In GCSE Welsh Second Language, pupils will study four units of work worth 25% each. The units are :-
Unit 1 (25%) Reading and Writing exam (4th June).
Unit 2 (25%) Three controlled assessment tasks (completed).
Unit 3 (25%) Group oral exam (2nd, 3rd or 4th of April)
Unit 4 (25%) Reading and Writing exam (6th June).
An increasing number of organisations within the country are now adopting and implementing bilingual policies and knowledge of the Welsh language is becoming more important.
As a department we aim to make our students more aware of their place as a citizen in Wales, through teaching them their language, culture, history and heritage. We all believe firmly that our language is something that should be grasped with two hands and with pride.
During the course, students are given the opportunity to go on trips that will help them learn about and see Welsh culture in exciting and new environments. They will gain a sense of responsibility and the opportunity to use the language outside the classroom. Current destinations include Llangrannog, S4C and BBC studios and we are always open to new possibilities to broaden our horizons and visit places such as the St David’s Day celebrations at Disneyland Paris.
