Oliver John - Sainsbury theatre at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) (23/06/2023)

Queen Elizabeth High School would like to congratulate Oliver John, one of our alumni members, for an outstanding performance in his final show at the Sainsbury theatre at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). On the 12th of June 2023 I, his very proud Drama teacher, had the privilege of being invited to watch what I would describe as  a truly mesmerising and talented performer on stage.

As a Creative Arts department we quite often refer to Oliver as ‘the one’ we will never forget; his talent was evident from a very young age, and I will always remember his captivating performance as a young Gavroche in our school production of Les Misérables back in 2012. It only feels like yesterday he flew the nest embarking on his new adventure to become a professional actor.

As teachers we often hear of the triumphs and successes of past pupils, and we take a little glory from knowing we had a part to play (even if it’s a small one) in their mastery. It was such an honour to be able to see this young man's tremendous craft in action once again, on stage where he belongs. We at Queen Elizabeth High School would like to wish you all the best with your career.

Here is a gallery of his work over the last 3 years.

Insight Event (27/01/2023)

A team of year 12 students visited Carmarthenshire County Council for the annual Insight event. Here they had the chance to debate and deliberate on real budgeting issues facing councils all across the country. They voiced their opinions on concerns of how our council's money should be best spent. and even suggested alternatives on savings and cuts that could be considered. The passion and enthusiasm our pupils displayed throughout the day made us very proud.
Thank you to Carmarthenshire County Council and all of the cabinet members for providing an extremely worthwhile experience for the students. Such an enjoyable and insightful day.
