Johnstown Day Centre

Johnstown centre is a Day Centre for adults (18 and over) with complex learning disabilities. They specialise in supporting adults to grow, develop and feel safe belonging to their community through accessing specialised therapies and participating in community events.

Over the last few years pupils from Canolfan Elfed have been invited to numerous events at the day centre to join in the fun at their annual summer fair, Christmas concerts and music events. Last year some of the centre staff visited the school on a regular basis to do some transitional work with a pupil that was going to be attending the centre in September. This not only allowed the pupil to get to know the staff, but the staff could familiarise themselves with the health and social needs of the individual to ensure a person-centred approach.
